In order to better promote international students' understanding of Chinese culture and enhance cultural exchanges and mutual learning, the School of International Education (SIE) of Dalian University of Technology organized the visit to Dalian Hua Xia Culture Museum for language students of SIE on the afternoon of November 11th.
Under the guidance of the guide, the students first visited the exhibition area of the museum, such as the Sacred Jade Secrets, the Eastern Inheritance of Fa Xiang, the Memory of Hu Feng, and the Sailing of the Porcelain Sea. With the explanation of the guide, the students got to know the region and era of each exquisite exhibit, as well as to realize the living state and aesthetic mentality of the people at that time, and obtained a deeper insight of the development wisdom and creativity of the Chinese people. At the same time, the porcelain pieces with unique foreign characteristics gave the students a more intuitive feeling and a deeper understanding of the history of Sino-Foreign civilization exchanges.
After the visit, the students experienced Chinese culture under the guidance of the staff of the museum. They put on Han Fu, learned Chinese etiquette, made incense seals and rubbing prints by hand, performed traditional activities such as archery and pitch-pot, and immersively experienced the intangible cultural heritage tour. During this trip, the students not only learned traditional Chinese virtues, but also obtained a deeper understanding of traditional Chinese costumes, Chinese skills of over thousands of years’ history, and China's unique aesthetic taste.
This Chinese culture practice not only provides students with an opportunity to understand Chinese civilization, but also sets up a bridge to promote understanding and deepen friendship for students with different cultural backgrounds. The School of International Education will continue to promote the practice of Chinese culture, create more opportunities for students to deeply perceive China, promote the spread of Chinese culture, and promote the exchange of Chinese and foreign civilizations.
