Love for the World, Look to the Future--2nd International Culture Festival

     This autumn, Jingying Road changed into a sea of great fun on DUT campus. The tents of the culture show consisted of nearly 60 countries, bringing international elegance to all audience. Students from all over the world dressed up in finery and had a feast to the cross-cultural exchange. Students from home and broad gathered here on the stage of the 2nd International Cultural Festival.

    On October 18th with theme of Love for the World, Look to the Future, the second International Culture Festival started with a grand opening. Attended the ceremony are Lee Junjie, vice President of DUT; Yu Tao, director of Dalian Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office; Xu Zengyun and Xu Peiwen from Bureau of Exit-Entry Administration of Dalian; Alexander from Belarus embassy in China;  Elena from Russian consular shenyang; heads of the international affairs from E9 union, and international students from other universities as well as teachers from DUT.

     In his opening address, Lee Junjie expressed his welcome to all the guests present. He said “enhancing international cooperation plays an important role of carrying out the Internationalization strategy of our school, which is also an inevitable requirement to construct our DUT into a world famous high level research university”. Consul General of the Russian Consulate General in Shenyang Kim Selby specially sent a congratulatory letter, and Ms. Eleanor who served as cultural attache read it in the opening ceremony. On behalf of international students, Eric from Rwanda expressed his expectation of the festival and love for DUT and China.

"International Cultural Festival" focuses on showing diverse cultures. It fully displayed the charm of international development of DUT and SIE. Graceful traditional Thai dance, hot Spanish Dance, cheerful European folk performances, fashion and other colorful international band made everyone feel so excited. Visitors could also participate in the selection of "the most beautiful International Student" and “the Best Show ". Lucky audience would get this year's ordered International cultural Festival souvenirs. Russian students in the streets flash, Kazakhstan student's ethnic tents, British student's "Alice in Wonderland", and every corner of "International cultural Festival" would bring you an unexpected surprise.

This year’s International Culture Festival aimed at communication in friendship with all sectors of society, more spectacular scenes, and more involvement. All guests had the opportunity to deeply experience different styles of other nations. The theme exhibition next to the main building displayed series of photos showing the happy moments and unforgettable experiences when studying at DUT. At the same time, to celebrate the 65th anniversary of DUT, the bilingual time-line panel showed the path of DUT, reminding people of the most important moments in DUT history.

  On the street full of universal charms, there were traditional souvenirs, specific crafts and classical food from all over the world. International students at the booths cooked delicious food for visitors and explained their native folk anecdotes smiley and patiently. Students from different countries were animatedly talking and taking group photos. Laughter and enthusiasm had no boundaries.

   The holding of this International Cultural Festival strengthened the communication between China and other countries, built an internationalized platform for numerous international students, and made itself a brand activity for DUT. SIE has arranged various ways to present a lively broadcast for the grandness of the festival on the stage screen. They also made a complete video to keep the charm of the International Festival.

   DUT began its international education in 1960s. Till today, more than 9000 excellent foreign students have graduated. This autumn, the number of foreign students in DUT reached its peak, with over 800 from more than 100 countries and regions around the world.
