On the afternoon of October 10, the School of International Education (SIE) held the sixth "Seeking the Path" Teaching Salon online. The event focused on "Sharing Experiences in First-Class Course Construction" and was chaired by Associate Professor Guo Hanning, Assistant Dean and Director of the Chinese Language Teaching and Research Office. All SIE faculty members participated online.

The salon invited Associate Professor Du Fang as the keynote speaker to help faculty better understand the direction and key requirements for developing and applying for first-class courses. As a successful applicant of national first-class undergraduate courses, Associate Professor Du Fang outlined the progression from provincial to national first-class courses from a full-cycle perspective. She provided an in-depth analysis of the core requirements of first-class courses—high-level, cutting-edge, interactive, and innovative characteristics—and detailed recent policy changes in application guidelines. She also explained the application document format, methods for highlighting innovations, and key points for preparing supplementary materials, emphasizing that course development should reflect pathways for cultivating innovative talent. Addressing the context of International Chinese Education courses, she shared practical suggestions on effectively integrating curriculum ideology and politics and demonstrating teaching reform outcomes.

In concluding remarks, Guo Hanning noted that Professor Du’s presentation was substantial and highly relevant, offering practical guidance for first-class course development and application. She encouraged all faculty, especially young teachers, to take this opportunity to engage in teaching reform, strengthen teacher-student and student-student interaction, and continuously improve course quality and teaching effectiveness. She expressed hope that all faculty would apply insights from the salon to further deepen teaching reforms.

The "Seeking the Path" Teaching Salon is a key initiative under the SIE's "Three Excellence Plan" (Excellent Teachers, Excellent Students, Excellent Courses). The SIE will continue to use this platform to promote the exchange of teaching experiences and resource sharing, continuously improve teaching capacity, and support the "Study at DUT" brand and the high-quality development of international education in China.
