After completing a week of learning at DUT, participants of the "Intelligent Bioengineering" DUT-BGI International Winter School traveled together to the BGI headquarters in Shenzhen from January 18th to 25th, embarking on a journey of exploring genomic technology. Here, the participants engaged in a variety of activities including deciphering and independently designing core modules of gene sequencers, seminars on genomics technology, an introduction to the genomic large model Genos and its clinical applications, a career development roundtable forum, and face-to-face sessions with mentors. These experiences bridged theory and practice, connected scientific exploration with industrial application, and laid a solid foundation for their future academic development and career planning.

The participants first visited the BGI headquarters, gaining an in-depth understanding of BGI's history and business domains. Through demonstrations and explanations ranging from gene sequencers to the genomic large model Genos, they had close contact with cutting-edge research equipment and experienced BGI's profound expertise in the field of genomic technology as well as its future vision for proactive health.

The participants also visited the BGI Agricultural Base, conducting on-site inspections of perennial crops and learning how genomic technology empowers modern agricultural development. They personally completed grafting practices for the "Duobao Eggplant Tree." This series of innovative applications allowed the students to deeply appreciate the transformative power of genomic technology on agricultural production.

At the closing ceremony, ANASTASIIA APRELKOVA from ITMO University in Russia, as a representative of the participants, shared her thoughts: "This winter school experience was far more than just a learning opportunity; it was a profound enlightenment and collision of inspiration about the future of life sciences. BGI has shown us a clear and awe-inspiring complete path 'from basic research to industrial translation.' It not only imparted knowledge but also ignited the fire of exploration within us."

The first "Intelligent Bioengineering" DUT-BGI International Winter School has concluded successfully! Here, young scholars crossed boundaries, personally experienced the charm of genomic technology, witnessed the limitless possibilities of the integration of scientific research and industry, and gained knowledge, friendship, and growth.
