To deepen practical China-Thailand education cooperation, advance international academic exchanges and high-quality development of international student education in China, Dalian University of Technology (DUT) successfully hosted the "Lianli Sino-Thai" Academic Chinese Enhancement Program from May 4 to 17, 2026. A five-member delegation led by Assistant Professor Dr. Rawee JANSONG, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at Chiang Mai University, visited DUT. Both sides reached in-depth cooperation agreements on talent cultivation, discipline construction, joint education, and faculty-student exchanges, achieving fruitful results. Meanwhile, 21 outstanding undergraduate students from the Chinese Department of Chiang Mai University and the Chinese Department of Rangsit University participated in the 14-day program featuring academic Chinese studies and scientific & cultural practice.
On May 5, the School of International Education (SIE) of DUT held a working meeting with the delegation from the Faculty of Humanities, Chiang Mai University. The two sides held in-depth discussions on key topics including joint cultivation of international talents, academic exchanges between faculty, credit recognition, and recruitment of high-quality students, and systematically aligned their training programs, forming a number of long-term cooperation intentions. Both parties will continue to carry out short-term study tours and long-term degree programs for students, and accelerate the implementation of joint education models such as the 3+1 undergraduate program and continuous bachelor-master programs.
The Faculty of Humanities, Chiang Mai University, highly recognized the distinctive features of DUT’s International Chinese Language Education program, which keeps pace with the times and deeply integrates science and technology. It was explicitly proposed that while further expanding long-term and short-term student programs in China, outstanding core teachers will be selected to attend teaching methodology training at DUT. The delegates will systematically learn DUT’s innovative AI-empowered academic Chinese teaching model and curriculum system construction experience, so as to jointly improve the teaching capacity of both universities.
This program designed an integrated curriculum system of Academic Chinese + Cutting-Edge Technology + Cultural Immersion tailored for Thai students. Centered on General Academic Chinese, the program innovatively applied artificial intelligence to empower classroom teaching with novel and targeted methods, effectively improving students’ academic Chinese application abilities. The program also included high-level technical lectures, visits to key laboratories, experiences of intangible cultural heritage, and Chinese-foreign student exchange activities, enabling students to strengthen their language proficiency while gaining a comprehensive understanding of China’s scientific and technological progress and cultural heritage.
Chiang Mai University is a top public university in Thailand, and Rangsit University is the leading private university in Thailand. Both universities boast strong faculty in Chinese departments and outstanding students with excellent comprehensive quality and Chinese proficiency, serving as core high-quality student sources for DUT’s international student education and International Chinese Language Education program. This program is an important practice for DUT to deepen education cooperation with ASEAN countries, expand international academic exchanges, and improve the quality of international student education, further broadening the cooperation space between DUT and top Thai universities.
In the future, taking this cooperation as a new starting point, DUT will continuously expand high-quality international cooperation with top universities worldwide, consolidate channels for high-quality international students, and comprehensively upgrade the level and quality of international student education. The university will leverage high-level international cooperation to boost the efficiency of international student education, and use international student programs to empower the university’s globalization strategy. By promoting the in-depth integration and mutual prosperity of international exchanges and international student education, DUT will inject stronger impetus and vitality into the construction of a world-class university.
