School of International Education Conducts Work Research at Three Universities in Heilongjiang and Jilin Provinces

To deepen inter-university exchanges and experience sharing in international student education and further elevate the management level of foreign student affairs, a six-member delegation led by Duan Yuping, Dean of the School of International Education, Dalian University of Technology, conducted in-depth special research visits to Harbin Institute of Technology, Jilin University and Northeast Normal University from May 11 to 13, 2026.

At Harbin Institute of Technology, Dean Zhao Yixiao of its School of International Education elaborated on the university’s distinctive practices and fruitful outcomes. By taking full advantage of its Northeast Asian geographical edge, the university has diversified overseas student sources, promoted Sino-foreign integrated education and implemented refined student management. The two sides had in-depth exchanges and discussions covering enrollment strategies for international students in China, unified management of domestic and international students, digital and intelligent curriculum development, and distinctive operation modes of short-term programs for overseas students. Following the symposium, the research team conducted an on-site inspection of the International Campus of Harbin Institute of Technology.

At Jilin University, Dean Jiang Lei of the School of International Education elaborated on the university’s overall layout and work achievements in international student enrollment, training, daily administration, curriculum development and national conditions education. Both sides exchanged views on international student enrollment and training, curriculum construction, as well as the training and management of students majoring in characteristic disciplines.

At Northeast Normal University, Dean Liu Tao of the School of International Chinese Education introduced the college’s practices and experience in teaching arrangement, daily management of preparatory and undergraduate students, as well as collaborative education with professional schools.Both sides then exchanged views on issues including enrollment cooperation for international student preparatory programs and the training characteristics of such programs, laying a solid foundation for further cooperation.

This research tour was not only a journey to learn advanced experience, but also a vital opportunity to emancipate minds and boost internal motivation. Through field visits and in-depth seminars, we fully learned about the highlights and innovative progress made by the three universities in international student education, and further strengthened communication and connections with peer universities across provinces. Taking this opportunity, the School of International Education will effectively translate research achievements into practical outcomes. Upholding traditions while forging ahead with innovation, we will strive to write a splendid DUT chapter for international student education in the new era.
