From August 30 to September 1, 2026, Dalian University of Technology received its new international students. A total of 1,374 international freshmen from 76 countries came together on the campus by Lingshui Lake, ready to begin a new chapter of study and growth at DUT.

To ensure a smooth and orderly registration for incoming students, the School of International Education coordinated with on-campus departments (Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Network & Information, Security, and Logistics) and external partners (banks and telecom providers) during the summer break to systematically prepare for the orientation. The School also streamlined the full registration workflow, set up service zones by business type, introduced dedicated counters for fee payment and visa matters, and upgraded the "one-stop" service model—delivering an efficient and well-organized registration experience.

On August 30, the campus was alive with youthful vitality. The prominent bilingual slogan "七秩新程・四海同梦" ("A New Journey at Seventy・Shared Dreams Across the Seas") set the tone of an open and inclusive international campus. In the morning, President Gao Xiang and his delegation arrived at the international student registration point on the first floor of Zone D, Haichuan Building, to oversee the orientation and greet the staff and students serving at the front line, joined by Vice Presidents Li Chengen and Liu Wei and heads of relevant departments.

President Gao engaged warmly with international student representatives and student volunteers from across the globe. On behalf of the university, he extended a warm welcome to all new students, encouraged them to quickly adapt to campus life, and wished them rewarding academic journeys and lasting friendships at DUT, ultimately becoming young talents with strong professional expertise and a global vision.

The registration site was well-arranged and ran in perfect order. From identity verification and accommodation registration to medical consultation and visa processing, each step proceeded efficiently. School faculty and international student volunteers worked hand in hand, greeting every new student from afar with enthusiasm and meticulous service. They helped newcomers complete their enrollment procedures swiftly, helping them feel at ease in a new country from day one.

Following the centralized registration phase, the School of International Education will launch a week-long new-student orientation camp, featuring a rich program of modules including safety education, academic guidance, daily-life guidance, and campus tours. The activities are designed to help new students quickly get to know the campus and settle into their academic and daily life in China.

The smooth delivery of this orientation program epitomizes the university's commitment to improving the quality and efficiency of its international education. Since 2022, the School of International Education has been solidly building the global "Study at DUT" brand, innovating recruitment strategies, launching distinctive academic exchange programs, and exploring new models of open international education to create new competitive strengths in international student education. As a result, the quality and scale of the university's international intake have grown steadily year by year. In 2026, the total number of international students on campus is expected to exceed 5,000, including over 2,300 degree-seeking students, with the overseas appeal and brand recognition of "Study at DUT" continuing to rise. Looking ahead, the School will further deepen international education reform with a global vision, keep enhancing the "Study at DUT" brand, and channel strong international momentum into the university's "Double First-Class" development.
