To gain a comprehensive understanding of the layout of English-taught programs and curriculum development for international students in Chinese universities, on October 23, a research delegation of four members, comprising the Shanghai Special Research Group on English-Medium Instruction for International Students and Li Yingjie, Dean of the School of International Education at Shanghai University, visited our university for an investigation. Dean Duan Yuping, Vice Dean Zhang Jidong of the School of International Education, along with relevant office staff, attended the symposium.
At the symposium, Dean Duan Yuping, on behalf of the school, extended a warm welcome to the research group. Vice Dean Zhang Jidong gave a detailed introduction to the overall situation of international student education at the school, and Assistant Dean Guo Hanning presented the progress in the development of English-taught programs and courses. Subsequently, the research group introduced the background and general purposes of this investigation.

During the exchange session, the two sides conducted in-depth discussions on the impact of the English-taught program system on the enrollment and cultivation of international students, teaching implementation and training models, faculty development with incentive and support mechanisms, as well as teaching management and quality assurance. They also explored specific issues including the differentiated design of training programs for international students, curriculum development for English-medium instruction, faculty cultivation, and quality monitoring.
This research symposium deepened the exchange and mutual learning between the two universities in the field of international student education in China, providing valuable experience for the university to further improve its English-taught system and enhance the quality of international student cultivation. In the future, both sides will fully draw on the outcomes of this investigation, deepen cooperation in areas such as cultural exchange and curriculum development, and continue to promote the high-quality development of international student education in China.
