According to the " Application Guide for International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship (2024)" issued by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC), Dalian University of Technology (DUT) plans to launch the Summer School of Chinese Language Training in 2024. The program adopts the offline teaching method and aims to provide Chinese learners with opportunities to engage in Chinese study atmosphere. After the assessment by the Center, the students who pass the application will be eligible for the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship. Eligible international students are welcome to apply for registration. The application conditions and material requirements are as follows:
I. ELIGIBILITY
All applicants shall be
a) Non-Chinese citizens
b) In good physical and mental condition, well performed both academically and behaviorally
c) Aspired to take future careers on the teaching or international promotion of Chinese language
d) Between the ages of 16-35 on September 1st, 2024. The maximum age limit for in-service Chinese teachers may be extended to 45.
II. PROGRAM
1. Start Time: The start time of the program is 2024 July, and the program period is 4 weeks.
2. Number Limit: The program starts with 15 students. The number of the Summer School of Chinese Language Training is limited, with “first come first served” principle;
3. Application Requirement:
(1) Applicants shall hold the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) report;
(2) The program may be applied for by a recommending institution. Prior to the trip, a detailed study plan shall be made in consultation with DUT.
4. Program Content: Chinese language learning and Chinese culture (martial arts, music).
5. Program Coverage: According to the "Coverage and Criteria for International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship", the funding content includes tuition, accommodation, and comprehensive medical insurance.
6. Application Deadline: Applicants must complete their applications by April 15, and Recommending Institutions and Host Institutions must complete the review by April 25.
III. APPLICATION MATERIALS
1. A scanned copy of passport photo page;
2. Notarized highest education diploma or official proof of student status and transcript;
3. A scanned copy of HSK test score reports (within the two-year validity). In-service Chinese language teachers may be exempted from HSK certificates if they provide proof of employment and a letter of recommendation from the employer;
4. Certificate of No Criminal Conviction
IV. APPLICATION PROCEDURE
1. Please fill in the “APPLICATION INFORMATION FORM” in the attachment and send it to fenglu@dlut.edu.cn with your application materials. If the application materials are up to standard, DUT will guide the applicants to formally register in the Dalian University of Technology International Student Online Application Website (http://iso.dlut.edu.cn). Please register for an individual application account, fill in the form and submit the application materials online.
2. Online registration will be available from March 1, 2024 on the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship website (http://www.chinese.cn). You may search for Recommending Institutions and Host Institutions; submit application materials online; and track the application process. The successful applicant must confirm with the Host Institutions to go through the procedures of studying in China, print out the scholarship certificate online, and register at the Host Institution on the designated date as per the Letter of Admission.
3. CLEC will entrust an expert panel to review the applications. Decisions will be made based on HSK scores and levels, and in consideration of country distribution as well as other factors.
