Application Procedures for
DUT 2017 Confucius Institute Scholarship
For the purpose of supporting the development of Confucius Institutes, facilitating international promotion of Chinese language and dissemination of Chinese culture, as well as cultivating qualified Chinese-language teachers and excellent Chinese-language learners, Confucius Institute Headquarters/Hanban (hereinafter referred to as Hanban) launches a “Confucius Institute Scholarship” program to sponsor foreign students, scholars and Chinese language teachers to study Chinese in relevant universities of China (hereinafter referred to as “Host Institutes” ).
Ⅰ. Category of Scholarship and Eligibility Criteria
The scholarship of 2017 is divided into 3 categories:
Scholarship for One-Academic-Year Students
Scholarship for One-Semester Students
Scholarship for Four-Week Study Students
Applicants shall be non-Chinese citizens in good health, aged between 16 and 35.
1.Scholarship for One-Academic Year Students : This category provides full scholarship for 11 months to teachers and students (Chinese-related majors) who intend to study Chinese translation and studies. Applicants should have a minimum score of 180 in HSK Test (Level 4) and should submit a HSKK score report (Intermediate Level). Students who are still studying in China after 1st January. 2017 are not eligible for this scholarship.
2.Scholarship for One-Semester Students: This category provides full or partial scholarship for 5 moths to students and scholars who major in Chinese Communication/promotion.Applicant should have no prior experience of studying in China.Applicants should have a minimum score of 210 in HSK Test (Level 3) and should submit a HSKK score report.
3.Scholarship for Four-Week Study Students : This category provides full scholarship for 4 weeks. Applicant should submit a HSK score report and should have no prior experience of studying in China. The students will be enrolled in July or December, 2017.
Ⅱ. Scholarship Coverage and Criteria
Scholarship winners are exempt from tuition, accommodation fees on campus, monthly living allowance (not include Four-week Study students), and comprehensive insurance for foreign students studying in China. Monthly living allowances are provided at the following rates (CNY Yuan per month):
CNY 2,500 for One-Academic-Year Students and One-Semester Students
Ⅲ. Recruitment Procedures
1. Applicant can log on to the Confucius Institute Scholarship website () to look for Recommending Institutions and Host Institutions, to complete and submit the Confucius Institute Scholarship Application Form on line, and upload scanned copies of relevant supporting documents.
2. Recommending Institutions, Tianjin University and Hanban will verify application materials on line and select outstanding applicants. Hanban will grant full or partial scholarship to successful applicants. Applicant can check the application process, materials review and admission results on line.The scholarship applicants could print their scholarship certificate online.
3. After confirming with the successful applicants, Tianjin University will post Letter of Admission, Visa Application Form for Foreigners to Study in China (JW202 Form) and other relevant documents to Recommending Institutions.
Ⅳ. Application Documents
Applicants should log onto the Scholarship website, fill out the “Confucius Institute Scholarship Application Form”, and attach the electronic files of the following materials:
1.Photocopy of passport photo page.
2.Photocopies of HSK, HSKK score reports (within two-year validity).
3.Notarized highest education diploma attained (expected graduation proof or official proof of student status). Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.
4.Reference letter. College students majored in Chinese in countries with no Confucius Institutes established shall submit a reference letter signed and issued by the university President.
5.Applicants under the age of 18 shall submit relevant legal documents of entrusted legal guardians in China.
6.Chinese language teachers shall submit the proof of the length of time in teaching and weekly teaching hours provided by institutes they work for.
Ⅴ. Attention
1.If your name on the application form is different from your passport, or the relevant documents is not completed, your application will be invalid.
2.The scholarship winners shall register at the host institutes before the deadline set by the institutes. If you cannot register on time, you must inform the host institutes in written notice with the reason before 15 days of registration, and Scholarships will not be reserved for those who do not register on time without reasonable cause.
3.Scholarships will be canceled for those who cannot pass the health examination.
