Discussing Chinese Teaching Together and Promoting the Development of China Belarus Cooperation

On February 15, 2024, the Confucius Classroom of Minsk No. 23 Middle School under  Republican Confucius Institute of Sinology at Belarusian State University (BSU Confucius Institute for short below), together with the Institute of Education Development of Minsk City, invited the teaching leaders of 24 primary and secondary schools with Chinese teaching in 9 districts of Minsk City to gather at BSU Confucius Institute. In the auditorium of the Confucius Institute, a meeting of “Chinese and Belarusian teaching in the contemporary educational Environment" was held to discuss how to adapt to the new international situation and promote the development of Chinese teaching in Belarus. More than 30 people attended the conference, including Senior Lecturer at the Education Development Research Institute of Minsk City, Principal of Minsk No.23 Middle School, Dean of BSU Confucius Institute,Tozik, Liu Suling, and Director of the Chinese Language Teaching and Research Office of Confucius Institute, Yu Liya.

Before the meeting, Dean Tozik led the directors of schools in charge of Chinese teaching in Minsk districts to visit the BSU Confucius Institute. In order to let everyone better experience the profound heritage of Chinese culture, Li Changpu and Wang Yongjie, Chinese teachers of the Confucius Institute, presented the style of Chinese calligraphy to the guests in the library. In the audiences exclamation, Teacher Li talked about the development history of Chinese characters, and Dean Tozik introduced the meaning and symbol of fu, a necessary Chinese character for the Spring Festival.

The organizer, Senior lecturer of the Minsk City Institute of Educational Development, emphasized the necessity of the meeting: Just as the title page of the conference manual printed Belarus was, is and will be a reliable partner of China - Лукашэнка , with the deepening of China-Belarus cooperation, Chinese education will be promoted to a greater degree, so Chinese classrooms and Chinese teachers in primary and secondary schools in Minsk are bound to join forces to create Chinese education resources.

Principal of No.23 Middle School Пасюкевич Ирина introduced the current situation and problems of Chinese language development in primary and secondary schools in Minsk, emphasized the importance of Chinese language teachers, advocates for self-improvement and called on all primary and secondary schools to jointly build Chinese and Byelorussian education resource centers, promote the development process of Chinese in Belarus, and facilitate friendly cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Dean Tozik patiently and seriously introduced the current situation of BSU Confucius Institute and Chinese curriculum projects to the participants, providing the audience with a template for the development of Chinese education. The teachers at the meeting listened carefully and thoughtfully. Minister Tozik also stressed that with the deepening of China-Belarus cooperation, the development of Chinese education in Belarus is unstoppable, and this meeting conformed to the trend of localization of Chinese education. He encouraged all the participants present to work together to improve the Chinese education system in Belarus and make a contribution.

Meeting begins in the afternoon,two vice President of Minsk No.23 middle school discussed the problem of learning Chinese and how to create and operate mechanism of resource center. After that, the teaching directors of 24 primary and secondary schools expressed their opinions on “How to build a Chinese education resource center in Belarus” and held a positive discussion for more than 4 hours, hoping to promote the construction and development of Chinese education resource centers in primary and secondary schools in Belarus.
