Awarded the "Global Advanced Confucius Institute" in 2011, the Republican Confucius Institute of Sinology at Belarusian State University jointly established by Belarusian State University (BSU) and Dalian University of Technology (DUT) was selected as the national model Confucius Institute on December 22nd, 2016. Such special honor can be regarded as the competent department's high praise for efforts made by Dalian University of Technology (DUT) and Belarusian State University (BSU) to jointly establish the Confucius Institute, and is of great significance for further promoting comprehensive cooperation between Dalian University of Technology (DUT) and Belarusian State University (BSU), as well as enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese and Belarusian peoples.
Our college had attached great importance to and actively promoted the construction and application of project. With the active communications carried out in the earlier stage, Provost Guiling Ning had cooperated with the leaders from Belarusian State University (BSU) and officials concerned from the Center for Language Education and Cooperation to make thoughtful planning and arrangements in regards to the project. The design team led by Professor Jian Tang of the School of Architectural Arts was tasked with designing satisfactory scheme for the exterior renovation and interior design of the buildings of the Confucius Institute in a short period of time. Featured by simple but elegant characteristics, the buildings feasibly designed with new Chinese style fully reflect the spiritual connotations and profound cultural qualities of the Chinese nation. Awarded numerous honors, the confirmed design scheme has been highly praised by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation and Belarusian State University (BSU) , and laid foundation for the construction of the model Confucius Institutes in the future.
Our college has officially signed a contract with Belarusian State University（BSU) to jointly establish the first Confucius Institute in the Republic of Belarus in 2009. So far, there are four Confucius classrooms subordinate to the Confucius Institute respectively opened at Belarusian State University （BSU）found at Belarus State Economic University, Gorodno State University, Gomel State University, and The No. 23 Senior High School of Minsk. Apart from offering various Chinese language training courses suitable for students of different ages, the Confucius Institute actively engages in launching various events to promote Chinese culture every year, and thereby turning into an important locus for Belarusian people to explore Chinese culture. At the same time, the Confucius Institute has also served as an ideal platform for comprehensive cooperation between Dalian University of Technology (DUT) and Belarusian State University（BSU). Since the establishment of the Confucius Institute, more than 200 international students from Belarus have chosen to continue their studies at our college. Currently, a research institution specailized in studies on the fields of plasma application and regional economic integration has been jointly established by Dalian University of Technology (DUT) and Belarusian State University（BSU). The application of the construction project of Sino-Belarus Union College has been submitted to the Ministry of Education for final approval. Relying the platform of the Confucius Institute, the cooperation between Dalian University of Technology (DUT) and Belarusian State University（BSU) has yielded heartening achievements that leads a win-win situation for comprehensive partnership built in the near future.
(At the Fourth Confucius Institute Conference in 2009, Yandong Liu, the then member of the State Council and the Chairman of the Confucius Institute Headquarters Council, announced the official launch of the construction project of "Model Confucius Institute". The Confucius Institute Development Plan (2012-2020) states that it is necessary to establish a number of model Confucius Institutes that play a leading and radiating role in expanding the enrolment and enhancing the management and social influence of the colleges. So far, there are over 500 Confucius Institutes worldwide, of which more than 40 are exemplary.)
