International Academic Seminar on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in New Era was Successfully Held by BSU Confucius Institute

        On March 29, International academic seminar on socialism with Chinese characteristics in new era was officially held by BSU Confucius Institute at which the development characteristics of modern China in various fields such as diplomacy, economy, and culture, and how to draw on China's development experience to further promote cooperation between China and Belarus were discussed. Li Wenhua, Secretary of Education Office of Chinese Embassy in Belarus and IVASHKEVICH, BSU vice-rector, made speeches. More than 150 experts, scholars, teachers and students from DUT, MGIMO University, NASB, BSU Department of International Relations and BSU Confucius Institute were present. Mr. Tozik, Dean of BSU Confucius Institute, former Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus and Ambassador to China, served as the host.

        IVASHKEVICH said, “China has achieved rapid economic and scientific development in short term, becoming one of the most powerful countries in the world. China developed the country through science and education to build socialism and maintained collaborative development among different regions. Research on socialist construction with Chinese characteristics is of reference significance. For young students in attendance, research on socialism with Chinese characteristics in new era can help they understand Chinese language, culture and economic development, with promotional effect on China-Belarus cooperation.”

        Mr. Tozik said, “China is one of the strategic partners of Belarus. Cooperation potential between two countries is huge. To this end, it is necessary for both countries to strengthen mutual understanding and mutual learning. Belarus knows what it has and what it needs, but how to turn its resources into what it needs, it has to learn from China.”

        Young experts and students expressed their own views on hot topics like e-commerce development in China and discussed about the effect of China's reform and opening up on China-Belarus relations.

        Chen Hongjun, Professor of DUT School of Foreign Languages, and Sun Chengzhi, Associate Professor, made reports named “Construction and Development of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in New Era” and “The Belt and Road Strategic Initiative As A Part of Foreign Policy of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in New Era -- Japan's Perception and Response”, respectively, which were widely concerned and highly valued.
