On October 2, 2019, 9 Confucius Institute DUT-BSU scholars and 1 teacher came to Dalian Peking Opera Theatre (also known as Hongji Big Stage), where they watched “Qin Xianglian”, one of familiar Beijing operas.

        Confucius Institute Management Office, School of International Education, did its utmost to  organize a range of rich and colorful cultural appreciation activities, in order to enrich extracurricular life of international students. This time the cultural experience to watch Beijing opera impressed them a lot. Peking opera has been exported to the whole world and become the important media to introduce and spread traditional Chinese art and culture. Peking opera is one of quintessential Chinese art forms, which is colorful and spectacular in performance and rich in historical and cultural elements, amazing all students so much.

        Bei Yi, Belarusian student, said with excitement, “This is absolutely stunning. It’s my first time to watch Peking opera so close. What a tremendous visual impact! It has been recorded already. I will share it with my family and friends.” Korean student Yu Zhenxi said, “Watching Peking Opera is really a special experience for me. It looks fun, but goes too fast so that I cannot keep up with the pace. I have to keep my eyes on subtitles. I hope to try other things next time. I enjoy this experience.”

        Traditional Chinese culture experience is one of key parts in study life of Confucius Institute DUT-BSU scholars. According to student needs and Dalian city identity, School of International Education will continue to list more cultural experience activities into schedule.
