From November 13, 2019 to November 26, 2019, the School of International Education of our university successfully held the winter camp of the Confucius Institute of Sinology of Belarusian State University. A total of 21 campers and 1 team leader from Belarus paticipated Chinese learning, cultural experience and city sightseeing in Dalian and Nanjing, respectively. This winter camp is the second winter camp held since the joint establishment of the Confucius Institute. The activity provides an important platform for Belarusian students to learn Chinese and understand Chinese culture, reflecting the continuous improvement of the level of educational cooperation between the two universities.

This year’s winter camp continues to take “strengthening and improving the level of spoken Chinese, focusing on experiencing cultural style” as topics. Chinese course was taught by teachers with rich teaching experiences, which quickly improved students’ abilities in listening, speaking, vocabulary and reading in Chinese. At the same time, it adopted relaxed and happy learning methods to fully mobilize the enthusiasm of students to learn Chinese. Students quickly transformed the knowledge learned in class into practical application, achieving an ideal teaching effect. In addition, we invited teachers of calligraphy, zither, and film and television courses to showcase the exquisite traditional Chinese culture to our students every afternoon, and we also organized the activity of making dumplings for students. A series of traditional culture experience courses deepened the students’ understanding of Chinese culture, with experiences to enhance the perception of Chinese culture, understanding and identity, taste of Chinese culture.

In addition to those in the school, we have carefully arranged for the visitors to investigate at Xinghai Square, Modern Museum, Nanjing Museum, Confucius Temple, Qinhuai River, Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, Jiming Temple, and Xuanwu Lake. They have witnessed the great rivers and mountains of China, felt the extensive and profound Chinese culture, and experienced the true meaning of cultural customs in the regions south of the Yangtze River. Most students express their intention to continue their studies at Dalian University of Technology in the future, striving to learn Chinese and become international friends who are pro-China, love China and are friends of China. In the future, they will make their due contributions to the international promotion of Chinese, the overseas dissemination of Chinese culture, and the promotion of friendly exchanges and cooperation between Belarus and China.
