On December 1st, our institute and the Confucius Institute of Sinology of Belarusian State University jointly organized the the “Interview for the Selection of National Public-sponsored Overseas Teachers of Confucius Institute in 2020”. Belarusian participants included Anatoliy Tozic, the dean of the Confucius Institute of Sinology of Belarusian State University, and Liu Suling, the deputy dean of the Confucius Institute of Sinology of Belarusian State University. Chinese participants included Hao Hai, the dean of the School of International Education, Guo Shuhong, the director of the Confucius Institute Management Office of the School of International Education, and Yang Liang, the deputy director of the Confucius Institute Management Office of the School of International Education.
Before the interview, Dean Tozic first expressed his affirmation and appreciation for the prevention and control of China’s epidemic. He said that China’s outstanding achievements in epidemic prevention have set an example for the world, and Belarus should learn from China and find an effective way to fight the virus as soon as possible. Then, Dean Tozic reported to the Chinese side the learning situation of the Chinese tutoring class and the local Chinese teacher class of the Confucius Institute of Sinology of Belarusian State University. Despite the severe epidemic situation in Belarus, the Confucius Institute of Sinology of Belarusian State University still insisted on carrying out all the work.
Dean Hao Hai made a speech after that, and extended his sincere greetings to Dean Tozic and Belarusian colleagues. Dean Hao introduced the current situation of epidemic prevention and control in China, and fully affirmed the important role of online teaching under the epidemic situation. He said that the School of International Education has started to build smart classrooms and build an "Internet + Chinese teaching" platform, which has sufficient hardware guarantee in response to the epidemic. Our school will actively carry out online teaching, and run the "2020 'Chinese Bridge' Online Winter Camp for Belarusian Students", so as to accumulate experience for other Confucius cinema projects in the days to come. In the future, the Chinese side will work with Belarusian colleagues to build the Confucius Institute of Sinology of Belarusian State University into the best Confucius Institute in the world.
According to the comprehensive performance of the interviewees, China and Belarus finally decided that three students were admitted as national public-sponsored teachers of the Confucius Institute in our university.
After the transfer of Hanban to the Center For Language Education and Cooperation, the connection between Chinese and foreign universities of Confucius Institute is closer, which is confirmed by this video interview. Our school will assess the situation, further explore the potential of online teaching, and actively carry out multi-platform, multi-form and multi-dimensional exchanges and cooperation with the Confucius Institute of Sinology of Belarusian State University, so as to achieve good results together.
