On June 15, the 14th DUT & BSU Council Meeting of Confucius Institute was held online at which Guo Dongming, DUT President, Lu Anhui, President Assistant, Andrei Korol, Rector of Belarusian State University, Dmitry Medvyev, First Vice-rector, Konstantin Kozadaev, Vice-rector of International and Teaching Affairs, directors of our School of International Education, International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Office of Educational Administration and Finance Office, as well as persons of two sides in charge of Confucius Institutes, were in attendance. Dmitry Medvyev was the host.
Guo Dongming looked back the achievements attained in the cooperation with Belarusian State University and the significant role of Confucius Institute in promoting the development of international Chinese language education and fully affirmed pragmatic cooperation and deep friendship between two universities. He said, “With the strong support of DUT and BSU, Confucius Institute has developed rapidly. Good news keeps pouring in. School running level keeps improving. This year marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Belarus. Both universities will stand at a new historical starting point to work together, propel Confucius Institute work to a new level and level up cultural exchange and learning of mutual civilizations between two countries.”
Andrei Korol represented Belarusian State University (BSU) to extend sincere greetings and best wishes to Dalian University of Technology (DUT). He fully affirmed fruitful gratifying achievements of Confucius Institute in the past years and was truly grateful to DUT for its much help to the development of BSU Confucius Institute. He said, “In Belarus, Republican Confucius Institute of Sinology at Belarusian State University is in name and in fact the center of Chinese language and culture study and will definitely create greater glories in the future. The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) is upcoming. On this occasion, I look forward to a higher level of mutual cooperation and a steady development of mutual friendship.”
By a show of hands, all directors unanimously reviewed and approved “Confucius Institute Work Summary 2021-2022 & Work Plan 2022-2023” and “Confucius Institute Financial Settlement 2021-2022 & Financial Budget 2022-2023”. DUT president and BSU rector signed settlement & budget reports and supplementary agreement of annual funding allocation.
Republican Confucius Institute of Sinology at Belarusian State University grew with 16 years of steady development. Chinese language teaching and cultural promotion achieved gratifying results. High-quality training programs like “Belarusian Native Teacher Training” were introduced one after another to build unique brand seemly for the development of Confucius Institute, which were far-reaching, became the important window for foreign people to know China and contributed to international communication. In the future, DUT and BSU will educationally, academically and technologically see a closer cooperation between two universities and compose a more brilliant new chapter based on this platform.
