On October 14, 2014, Cui Qiming, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of PRC to Belarus, and his wife visited BSU Confucius Institute and were graciously received by IVASHKEVICH, Academician and BSU Vice-Rector, at Belarus time in the afternoon.
Ambassador Cui and entourage first inspected primary classroom and met pupils in class. To welcome him, all students recited ancient Chinese poem “Compassion for Farmers” in unison and with emotions and further explained fine qualities and profound implication in it.
Later, Ambassador Cui readily accepted the invitation of middle students to see their performance. A singing performance of “Zhongguo Hua” revealed Belarusian youth's longing for China and love for Chinese language. Ambassador Cui and his wife spoke highly of their Chinese proficiency and posed for photographs together. The entire classroom was radiant with happy laughter and cheerful voices. Cui also met college students who were studying Chinese culture and talked with each other in Chinese smoothly. Belarusian college students showed amity and respect to this kind Ambassador of PRC.
Ambassador and BSU Confucius Institute teachers and students watched the documentary that was filmed to celebrate the 10th anniversary of global Confucius Institute, and looked back on the development and achievements of BSU Confucius Institute. Ambassador Cui expressed gratitude to Belarusian State University (BSU) for their great effort and strong support to Chinese language teaching cause.
Ambassador Cui Qiming patiently answered one after another question that teachers and students were concerned about. The whole process was joyful and harmonious. Finally, Ambassador Cui presented a gift to Belarusian State University (BSU) and BSU Confucius Institute, a complete set of book, “Si Ku Quan Shu”, and took a group photo together with teachers and students.
