From May 15th to 16th, the 2026 "Liu Changchun" Cup Athletic Games of Dalian University of Technology were held at the Central Track and Field Stadium of Lingshui Main Campus. Chinese and foreign teachers and students of the School of International Education worked together to create many historical "firsts" of the school.
Since welcoming the first batch of international students in 1956, the university’s international education program has a 70-year history. Now it has been at the forefront of the country with the scale of 4,000+ students and excellent results, such as quality certification A-level for studying in China. As the final team of the student square array of the opening ceremony, SIE’s team is composed of international students from nearly 100 countries wearing national clothes, holding national flags and balloons, and marching past the review stand to inspiring entrance music. The team members of nearly 300 students were spirited and energetic, which perfectly showed the vibrant vision of cultural exchange and mutual learning in the cheers of the audience. The picture of the world's DUTers gathering on the track and field became the brightest moment of the whole opening ceremony.
After active and enthusiastic registration, the total number of Chinese and foreign students participating in the DUT sports meeting and track and field events this year is 20, with more than 80 participants. In track and field, Chinese and foreign students encouraged each other and worked hard, embodying the spirit of faster, higher, stronger, and sports without borders. After two days of intense competition, students from SIE won the men's Group C javelin and discus championship, defended the football penalty kick championship, won the men's shot put runner-up, won the women's long jump and 1500-meter third place, and at the same time, the 100-meter, 200-meter, 5000-meter track, and 4×100-meter, 4×400-meter, 8×200-meter relay teams have achieved good results. The athletes who worked hard on the court and the Chinese and foreign students shouting in the audience were mixed into a touching picture. The gap between language, history, and culture was flooded with the cheers of "WE ARE FAMILY" on this day, and SIE also won the honor of "Spiritual Civilization Award" again.
The teachers of SIE worked together. After hard training before the competition and the flexible adjustment during the competition, there were frequent reports of success during the two-day competition: in the track and field, our teachers won the first place in the women's 800m, the first place in the 6×200m relay, the first and seventh places in the men's 1500m, the second place in the men's 100m, the second and fourth place in the women's shot put, the third and fifth place in the women's 50 meters, and the sixth place in the men's shot put. The first place in the group competition was won the first place in the drum, the second place in basketball, the third place in tug-of-war, and the fourth place in the Fun Ball Relay. Finally, they ranked second place in the Group C with a total score of 123 points.
The sports meeting finished, but the pace of hard work never stopped. In this sports meeting, the teachers and students of the School of International Education interpreted youth with sweat, ignited the arena with passion, and wrote a colorful mark in many "first" breakthroughs. This is not only a leap in sports results, but also a vivid microcosm of the integration of Chinese and foreign cultures and the unity of teachers and students. Looking to the future, SIE will continue to gather world talents with an open and inclusive attitude, and write more new chapters of "mutual prosperity and shared brilliance" on the stage of DUT.
