Republican Confucius Institute of Sinology at Belarusian State University (BSU Confucius Institute for short below) was founded on July 5, 2006, in the co-construction of DUT and BSU in November 2009, elected as globally advanced Confucius Institute in 2011, approved to establish “Demonstrated Confucius Institute” in 2016 and honored with the title of “Demonstrated Confucius Institute” officially by Confucius Institute headquarters in 2019. Over the past 16 years, a total of 14,916 students were admitted to headquarters and affiliated classroom. More than 5,000 candidates from around the world benefited from its exam service system. A total of 70,133 people attended its cultural activities so far. To solve the shortage of Chinese language teachers in the development of Chinese language teaching in Belarus, BSU Confucius Institute started to undertake training for Belarusian native primary and middle school Chinese language teachers in 2018 and trained 102 teachers for Belarusian states totally. Furthermore, BSU Confucius Institute attached importance to cultivation of sinology talents and offered master program “Chinese Teaching Method for Educational Institutions” in 2022. Now there are 6 enrolled postgraduate of Chinese language. BSU Confucius Institute made great contributions to promoting China-Belarus cultural exchanges, enhancing international understanding and learning of mutual civilizations, which was a well-deserved role model of China-Belarus educational cooperation.      

        BSU Confucius Institute is the largest Chinese language teaching institution in Belarus. Currently, affiliated Chinese language teaching stations include Belarusian State Economic University (BSEU), Grodno State University, Minsk No. 23 Middle School, 4 Confucius Classrooms of Orsha No. 16 Middle School, Minsk No. 12 Middle School, Mogilev No. 4 Middle School, Minsk Smolevichi Middle School, Brest No. 7 Middle School, 5 teaching points of Grodno Volkovysk No. 2 Middle School, extending over more than half the land of Belarus. Professor Tozik serves as foreign side Dean of BSU Confucius Institute, who was Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus (2011-2014) and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to China (2006-2011). Liu Suling, DUT Associate Professor, is Chinese side Dean of BSU Confucius Institute.

        Dalian University of Technology (DUT), as Chinese side partner institution of BSU Confucius Institute, has been doing everything possible to do that which is necessary to make it better, incorporated the construction of BSU Confucius Institute into overall development plan, listed it as key work for which president got personally involved to serve as the chairman and put everything available into this big cause. Confucius Institute Management Office, School of International Education, is specially set up to be responsible for the operation and development (coordination of funds, assignment of quality teachers, preparation and organization of Confucius Institute Council, logistical support) of BSU Confucius Institute, communicating with Belarusian State University (BSU), serving as bridge, research and implementation of various regional talent innovation and cultivation programs sponsored by Center For Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC), expanding influence of DUT on international stage of Chinese language education.
