[The 35th International Education Forum at SIE] Guidance on thesis writing for graduate students majoring in International Chinese Education

In order to improve the academic writing ability of graduate students majoring in International Chinese Education in our school, as well as improve their theses quality, on the afternoon of November 17, Professor Li Baogui, the doctoral supervisor from the School of International Education of Liaoning Normal University, was invited to give an academic lecture with the theme of " Guidance on thesis writing for graduate students majoring in International Chinese Education". This lecture was hosted by Associate Professor Guo Hanning, the Assistant to Dean of the School of International Education. All master's students, supervisors and staff from this major attended the lecture.


Professor Li gave the lecture through four aspects: topic selection of thesis, structural characteristics of thesis, standard requirements for thesis writing and structural innovation of thesis. Professor Li laid the emphasis on topic selection of thesis by giving the saying "successful topic selection, half-finished thesis". He recommended students grab a thesis title by reading papers diligently, participating in academic conferences actively and studying earnestly on topic selection of cutting-edge project. In addition, Professor Li pointed out that the rigor of the paper needs be paid special attention because the reasonable logical relations can promote the quality of the thesis. Furthermore, Professor Li listed several thesis writing standards, especially on subtitle, abstract, introduction and literature review. Professor Li also gave several valuable suggestions for tutor based on his personal guidance experience. He mentioned that supervisors can combine their scientific research and teaching research work with students' thesis writing as well as personal growth for achieving two-way growth. At the end of the lecture, the graduate students majoring in International Chinese Education had an in-depth exchange with Professor Li about their confusion on research work and thesis writing.


Graduation thesis is an important part in the cultivation of master students majoring in International Chinese Education. It is also an important comprehensive index measuring students' professional ability. The 35th "International Education Forum" focuses on the key problems that teachers and students are paying attention to, and provides constructive guidance for graduate thesis work. The cultivation of master students in International Chinese Education is an important part of the education of degree-enrolled students in our school. In the future, our program will continuously focus on the enhancement of teaching practice and research of master students in this major, strengthen professional ability training, improve supervisor guidance ability and make graduation thesis quality assurance in order to cultivate high-quality and versatile talents of International Chinese Education.
