On September 1st, Dalian University of Technology welcomed new international students of Class 2024. Hundreds of students across the five continents met at the campus for the first time. Future hopes and expectations lead young talents from different countries to study in the international family of a first-class university, creating a more beautiful blueprint.
In the morning, Xiang Changle, Secretary of the Party Committee of the University, Zhang Yanjun, Vice President, and Kang Xudong, president assistant visited the international freshmen and welcomed the international students from all over the world. Afterward, Secretary Xiang talked with the representatives of international students and student volunteers. He asked the students about their country and major and sent the warmest wishes for their further study at DUT. He encouraged the students to adapt to their life in China as soon as possible and took group photos.
To bring students a good experience on campus, the School of International Education has cooperated with relevant departments inside and outside the school to carry out detailed and careful preparation for the welcome students, including airport pickup, registration, and dormitory. At the same time, the SIM card, insurance service, and reception desk are added to provide a convenient one-stop service for freshmen. During the registration period, we can see the warm smiling faces and busy volunteers helping around. They convey warmth and strength with their careful service and guidance. The orientation site was full of international youthful vigor and hope.
In the second week of the semester, the School of International Education will successively carry out entrance education activities for freshmen, such as legal publicity, campus visits, ice-breaking sessions, etc. to provide the "first lessons" to help students adapt to the environment as soon as possible and integrate into their study and life.
Since 1956, our university has had a history of 67 years of cultivating international students studying in China. The school implements the strategy of opening education to the outside world and is committed to fostering international talents who shoulder social responsibilities and understand Chinese culture. In recent years, the School of International Education has continued to improve the quantity and quality of students, innovate the enrollment publicity methods, expand the government and enterprise scholarship programs, create high-quality short-term projects, and achieve breakthroughs in the education of international students. In the fall semester of 2024, we will enroll 525 international students from 67 countries, and the number of overseas students will exceed 2,700. Now, international students from five continents have become the new DUTers. They are about to start the new semester and write a wonderful chapter of campus life studying at DUT.
