The 2nd“Seeking the Path”Teaching Salon Lecture Held

In order to continuously promote the improvement of teachers' teaching capabilities and classroom teaching quality, strengthen the teaching construction of the School and promote the development of teachers, on the afternoon of September 15, 2023, the School of International Education held the 2nd "Seeking the Path" teaching salon lecture at the conference room D107. Professor Wang Ziru, a distinguished teacher in Liaoning Province, the current head of the National Excellent Resources Online Open Course, the National First-class Course, and the Liaoning Fine Resources Sharing Course, was invited as the guest speaker for the salon themed "Evaluation and Improvement of Classroom Teaching Quality", which was hosted by Associate Professor Guo Hanning, Assistant to the Dean of the School of International Education, and attended by all teachers of the School.

Professor Wang elaborated on the guidelines as well as the ultimate goals of teaching evaluation, emphasizing that teaching evaluation should be carried out in the light of "improving the result evaluation, strengthening the process evaluation, exploring the value-added evaluation, and perfecting the comprehensive evaluation". The evaluation indicators and observation points were also analyzed in details from the three aspects of classroom teacher teaching evaluation, student output evaluation and teaching environment evaluation. Based on respective teaching practice, the participating teachers carried out in-depth view exchanges and discussions with Professor Wang on specific classroom teaching issues such as the adoption of teaching methods, the construction of teaching logic, the classroom interaction and peer evaluation, as well as the integration of cultural instructions at class.


Associate Professor Guo Hanning concluded the lecture by emphasizing the importance of classroom teaching quality evaluation to the improvement of course quality, pointing out that teachers of SIE shall think over, better design and practice all aspects of teaching from the perspective of teaching outputs based on the feedback of teaching evaluation, and accumulate teaching practices, so as to create high-quality classes through continuous improvement of teaching organization.

The evaluation and improvement of classroom teaching quality is of great significance for promoting teachers' teaching capabilities, strengthening curriculum construction, stimulating students' learning motivation and improving learning effect. As an important department for the teaching of Chinese language, Chinese culture and conditions to international students in DUT, the School of International Education has always been attaching great emphasis to classroom teaching and curriculum construction, and has continuously introduced measures such as the construction of high-quality classrooms and high-quality courses, the collection of excellent international Chinese education teaching cases, and the review of excellent teaching plans to promote the development of the "Distinguished Teachers, Outstanding Students, and Superior Courses" program, so as to further enhance the teaching quality for international students in DUT. In the future, SIE will continue to organize the teaching salon series of various themes, based on the actual teaching realities of international students, to establish a platform for teachers' exchange and collaborative growth, and continue to promote the high-quality development of international Chinese education and teaching in DUT.
