On January 15, "Chinese+Business" 2022 for online Chinese-speaking talent training of Russian business sponsored by Center For Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) and undertaken Dalian University of Technology (DUT) came to a successful close. This training was one of DUT’s key programs approved by CLEC. 300 Russian students and DUT teachers had a cloud-enabled study, which was unforgettable and across the border. Let’s look back those things wonderful, impressive and rewarding.

1. Unprecedented launching ceremony

On November 4, 2022, launching ceremony was successfully held for which leaders from Center For Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC), Liaoning Department of Education, Geely Group and Midea Group made speeches. All teachers and 300 students watched online. After the ceremony, 11 news media reported this event, including CLEC, China Media Group (CMG), Dalian Daily, Peninsula Morning, etc., attracting wide attentions from international Chinese education practitioners and overseas Chinese learners.

2. Marked result of enrollment

As soon as the notice of approval was received, DUT formulated a detailed enrollment promotion scheme. Dean of School of International Education took responsible for overall planning of enrollment and all other departments worked together to promote. As of the enrollment deadline, 736 applicants applied on platform, which far exceeded the expected number. 300 students admitted to the program were mostly from world-renowned universities such as St. Petersburg State University, Tomsk State University, Kazan Federal University, the Russian Higher School of Economics, etc.

3.Demand-based teaching content

This program lasted for 10 weeks and was themed as “Cloud Business, Win Win Future”. Based on cultural background, occupation background, language proficiency and learning need, the curriculum covering 4 sectors- business Chinese, professional Chinese, professional course and Chinese enterprise culture & talent need was designed. This curriculum underlined applicability and practicality. Training mode highlighted “Chinese Plus” teaching concept. It is demand-based and industry-education integrated. School-enterprise cooperation mode was used to build a bridge for enterprises and talents.

4.Wonderful teaching activity

Program team held two business teaching practice activities on November 27 and December 18. Each classroom took business as theme and organized scenario simulation dialogue, debate, speech competition, seminar, film & TV dubbing show and activity planning competition, according to students’ need and Chinese proficiency. Students were active and enthusiastic to join in and create a quantity of excellent teaching achievements, laying a solid foundation for building a "Chinese+Business" teaching resource library in the future.

5.Complete and sound reward mechanism

At the end, program team conferred training certificates on all students and certificates of honor on 30 students who were rated as high distinction according to attendance rate and participation in teaching practice activities, and given priority to their applications for other DUT programs.

6.Profound and lasting influence

Yang Renjun, Deputy Director of Center For Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC), set a high value on this "Chinese+Business" talent training program. He said, “This training program focuses on school-enterprises cooperation, meets the demand, aggregates talent resources and advantageous industries of China and Russia, accelerates the cultivation of professional economic and trade talents versed in business, Chinese language and Chinese culture, and provides strong HR support for smooth and diversified economic and trade exchanges between two countries.” Student Wang Xiwen said, “DUT program is well designed, with good applicability and practicality. Students improve their ability to communicate in Chinese language in business environment in live class and international perspective and business literacy in recorded class. I hope to get in other programs in the future.”

The successful implementation of this "Chinese+Business" talent cultivation program is a phased achievement of DUT’s active promotion of international Chinese education and cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, and is a new attempt for international Chinese education hand in hand with professional education to go global, making positive contributions to promoting school-enterprise cooperation and deepening industry-education integration. DUT will take this good opportunity to fully leverage regional and disciplinary advantages, strengthen school-enterprise transnational collaborative education mode in a wider range and at more levels, and cultivate more outstanding talents for the construction of "the Belt and Road".
