International postgraduates shall take part in the required academic activities and other activities as stipulated in the training program. Those who cannot take part in the required activities for reasons shall go through the necessary procedures to ask for a leave. International postgraduate students who leave school for more than two weeks without completing the leave procedures will be automatically discontinued.
1. Relevant regulations for international postgraduate students' sick leave procedures: A leave application must be submitted in advance through the campus portal (a sick leave diagnosis from the university hospital or a hospital of 2A or above), and students can only leave after being approved by the supervisor and the School of International Education (International Students Office).
2. Relevant regulations for international postgraduate students' leave of personal affairs procedures: International graduate students are generally not allowed to take personal leave. If there are special circumstances that require students to take leave, a leave application in advance through the campus portal must be submitted, and students can only leave the university after being approved by the supervisor and the School of International Education (International Students Office). It is not allowed to make up for the leave afterward.
3. The sick leave and personal leave for each international postgraduate shall not exceed one month accumulatively, or else the suspension of study should be applied. Postgraduate students who take personal leave or sick leave should immediately apply for leave cancellation at the campus portal after the sick leave or personal leave expires. If students cannot return to university after the sick leave or personal leave expires, a leave renewal in advance shall be applied. Otherwise, students under this circumstance will be automatically discontinued.
4. International postgraduate students shall go abroad during the semester following the provisions of the Measures for the Management of Postgraduate Students in Dalian University of Technology for Going Abroad (Trial). Those who leave the country without following the regulations shall be punished according to the seriousness of the situation; Those who leave the country without authorization for more than two consecutive weeks will be considered as automatic discontinuing of study.
5. International postgraduate students who need to conduct teaching, research, and social practice activities outside the university must complete the procedures for leave of absence before leaving school. Those who need to leave for less than one month can only leave the university with the approval of the supervisor and the School of International Education (International Students Office). The suspension procedures should be completed if the period exceeds one month. Postgraduate students who participate in social practice activities during holidays may not apply for leave and must return to the university in time for the start of the new semester.
