International students are expected to attend classes and campus activities. Missing classes because of illness or any other reason requires an application for absence in written form at least three days in advance to go through the leave of absence procedures, which will take effect upon approval. Except for serious illness or emergencies, no leave can be made up afterward. Leaving the university without a leave of absence or being absent from teaching activities will be regarded as truancy and will be recorded in the attendance record. During the leave of absence, students must keep in contact with the teacher and reply promptly to messages received from the school. After returning from the leave, students must go to the Student Affairs Office to cancel their leave of absence.
The authority to grant leave is as follows:
a) Those who ask for a leave of absence no longer than one day must have their request approved by their head teacher;
b) Those who ask for a leave of absence between two days to a week (including one week) must have their request approved by both their head teacher as well as the Office of Student Affairs;
c) Those who ask for a leave of absence between one week to four weeks (including four weeks) must have their request approved by the vice dean of the academic affairs of the department;
d)Those who ask for a leave of absence exceeding four weeks in length must have their request approved and signed with comments by the vice-dean of the departments, and the process will be reported to all relevant departments and treated as the withdrawal of study.
